In this episode, we are talking about Intentional Living! Have you been curious about sustainable/intentional/regenerative lifestyles? So have we! We’re going to share our WHYs for even getting into this world in the first place, discuss our experiences (both positive AND negative), and wrap up with ‘our’ most valuable intentional living projects (which may be different from yours)!

If you found yourself trying to make sourdough bread over the pandemic or found yourself raising a flock of backyard chickens…this is for you. If you have tucked a little dream away in your heart for a slower pace of life, maybe a small homestead, to homeschool, or even just learn a new skill like learning how to cook from scratch… this episode is for you.

We tried to stay in our lane and keep the conversation to mostly our personal experiences, because the reality is, not all of you are going to have the same interests, or value for each and every way you could add more intention to your life.

So, when you listen to this, don’t hear this as a to-do list…but instead, as ideas that you could pick and choose from, to move in the direction of living slower, and with more intention.

xo,

Jen and Sammy

In this episode on Intentional Living (part 2) we will cover:

  • thrift shopping- pros and cons and our personal opinions on thrift shopping
  • discussing the benefits of natural fibers + more information than you probably want on what polyester does to our bodies :-p
  • reducing toxins in our foods- why we pay attention to this and how cooking from scratch allows us to reduce toxins
  • candles and toxins :-p a touchy one for us
  • personal care products and how to reduce toxins
  • homeschooling- our personal journeys with homeschooling
  • homeschooling- a few common “objections” or “myths” that I absolutely don’t find to be true
  • Where we’re at with homeschooling right now

Resources Mentioned in Intentional Living: Where to Start (Part 2):

Thrifting and slow fashion:

  • Poshmark
  • Thred Up
  • Rent the Runway – did not mention this in the episode, but only because I forgot! I love renting dresses for weddings from RTR! I never want to wear the same dress twice anyway, so why not rent them!

Personal care product mentions:

  • Environmental Working Group (EWG)- start by taking your top 5 most frequently used personal care products, checking them out on EWG, and pick the biggest offenders and work slowly as they run out to switch them out for cleaner products.
  • Clean laundry suggestions we made (EOS + Mollys Suds)

Here are a few books that I have really loved on homeschooling (or have been repeatedly recommended to me and I have on my list to read):
