I don’t typically take time to go out and shop. Having three kids has really limited my “free time”. But recently, my husband offered to take all three kids to a park while I had a solid hour completely to myself to wander around my favorite consignment store, Crossroads.

Within 40 minutes I was heading out the door, and I felt awesome about my finds! Four new-to-me items, and three of them still with tags on for $87.

Now, it is absolutely possible to find amazing deals at thrift stores for far less than what I did. However, the issue with that for the season of life I am in at this particular moment is the time that is needed to sift and weed through racks of clothing.

Going to a reputable consignment store that takes in-season clothing which are in great condition does a lot of the work for me, but is still:

  • not adding to the consumption cycle
  • saving money!

Thrifted Summer Clothing Finds

This emerald green shirt is from Lulus. I loved the idea of the off the shoulder design when I held it up in the store, and I loved the longer length of the shirt as I have a long torso. However, when I got home it was the only piece of clothing that I purchased that I wasn’t 100% sure I was going to keep. I ultimately decided to keep it, and I’m so glad I did because I really love it.

Lulus: still had a tag on it. Marked down to $15

Do you remember how celebrity gossip magazines used to have a recurring article that would try to convince us that celebrities were “just like us” by showing a celebrity wearing a piece of clothing more than one time?

Well, if I were a celebrity, the magazines would absolutely be printing me wearing this pink dress over and over again. I freaking love it.

I love the color, I love the pockets, and I love that I can unbutton it easily to nurse my babe.

The other day I was in the park with my kids and a man walks by and says, “I love your dress. Pink matches who you are.” Okay…best compliment ever from the man who has never seen me in his life. Thanks man.

Shades of blonde: $23

I know that it is summer. But I technically live in a coastal desert, and we have 40 degree swings at night. So, it is absolutely imperative to have a cozy sweater to throw on as part of the summer wardrobe. This sweater is from Marine Layer, had tags on it, and was originally $135. I bought it for $35.

Marine Layer: $35 tags still on

This is a Ann Taylor shirt is so classic, and I feel like I can never have enough stripy tops.

Ann Taylor: tags still on $14

Furniture Finds!

I have been looking for a chair like this for some time now. I think it’s beautiful, and I wanted a wooden rolling chair that would swivel. I saw this at a recent yard sale for $20. She was only selling it for $20 because the wicker on one of the armrests had unraveled. I told my hubby he totally could fix that, and that he sure did. $20, a little bit of time on his part, and it’s practically brand new. Can you tell which armrest it was?

Pottery Barn wooden and wicker office chair $20

At that same yard sale, this sweet little chair was calling to me, and then Nick plunked Dane down in it and there was no longer a possibility I was leaving without it. $10

Fisher Price wooden highchair- $10
